Are you interested in viewing live television on your Kodi device? In this guide, you will learn the simplest method to authorize and watch IPTV on Kodi in just a few steps.
Many Kodi users enjoy the platform for its ability to install various addons that serve VOD content including Movies, TV Shows, Documentaries, and more.
However, many do not know that we can also integrate just about any IPTV Service into Kodi as we show in this tutorial.
If you are familiar with Kodi, you have also likely heard of Internet Protocol Television or IPTV which is another popular method for cutting the cord to stream live television.
Typically, IPTV is watched on a separate application including IPTV Players such as Smarters Pro or TiviMate.
But, we can also use Kodi as our IPTV Player and seamlessly integrate just about any provider within the Kodi app using the IPTV Simple Client which is available via the official Kodi repository.
This is all done with an M3U URL or Xtream Code that is almost always provided whenever you register for service with a Top IPTV Provider.

If you are unsure if you have an M3U URL for your service, Check with your current IPTV subscription to see if they have one of these or not. You can usually find this in the support documents or online discussion board that most IPTV services offer for their subscribers.
You may also find this in the welcome email that you received when you registered for your IPTV service.
It is important to note that this guide will only work if you have an active IPTV package and an M3U URL as no content is provided within the IPTV PVR Client. If you are looking for an addon that has live channels, use our list of Kodi Live TV Addons.
In this guide, we will show you how to watch IPTV on Kodi using an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max. This is the most popular media device available today due to its low price point and “jailbreaking” capabilities.

Step 2: Integrate Your IPTV Service
Once installation is complete, we can integrate our preferred service with an M3U URL which is usually available in the welcome email from your provider.
1. Click IPTV Simple Client again.
2. Select Configure.
3. Choose Edit “Migrated Add-on Config”.
4. Under General, hover over and select M3U Playlist URL.
5. Input your preferred M3U URL from your IPTV Provider or other outlet and click OK.
NOTE: You can use the bit.ly service and shorten your M3U URL so it is easier to input than entering the entire M3U file as these can often be very long. Make sure to input your URL with no mistakes as it won’t work if there are any errors.
5. If you have an EPG URL (Electronic Program Guide), you can input the XMLTV URL for it here.
6. Click OK.
8. Return to the home screen of Kodi and hover over the TV tab and your channels will now appear!

Upon testing, we have found that Subtitles do not work properly within Kodi IPTV. However, if you are using Kodi for on-demand content, you can still Get Kodi Subtitles by using the popular OpenSubtitles platform.
One great feature that you can take advantage of is the Recently played channels category to find previous selections!
One thing to note about Kodi IPTV is that many of these providers do not offer VOD for Movies and TV Shows.
Luckily, there are tons of video add-ons available for installation that provide unlimited content for streaming.
Other PVR Clients
The Simple Client is not the only client available to watch IPTV on Kodi and there are numerous other options that users prefer.
NextPVR
As you can see, NextPVR is a frontend client that supports IPTV Providers and lets you access your favorite media as well as radio networks and even an EPG.
HDHomeRun Client
Many love HDHomeRun for its ease of use that brings your favorite live content to numerous platforms in your household. Many love the app but you can also use it on Kodi with the client addon.
MediaPortal
This free media center is oftentimes considered an alternative to Windows Media Center and is compatible with numerous apps such as Plex, Emby, and Kodi.
VBox TV Gateway
Users can stream, record, and time shift with VBox TV Gateway. It is compatible with all streaming boxes and is especially popular in European countries.
Demo
The official Kodi wiki for Demo PVR lists it as a dummy addon with fake backend for PVR skinning and regression testing.
Wrapping Up
Many cord-cutters prefer to access their content in one location and using the Kodi IPTV addon via PVR Simple Client is the best way to do so.
